The Alice Tag Swap

After artist class and Teresa, I found myself wanting to do create more. I ran across this blogger who was hosting a tag swap----create 6 tags inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Now, I am a swap virgin, but we all have to do something once, right? I can't wait to see the little book I receive in the mail with other artists goodies.

Here are mine-

I'm a serious quote girl so I couldn't resist this dialogue from the book. It was the foundation for the rest of the tag.

Please keep in mind, I had to hand draw the "legs" because google just didn't give me much to use. I cut out 12 legs from my template and then 12 pairs of tiny black shoes. I feel carpal tunnel setting in.

And it just wouldn't be complete without a rhinestone would it? If Alice had rhinestones she probably could have used them to her advantage with the Queen.

I also am not a fan of making duplicates (hate to be a factory) so the first three were trials until I finally settled on something. I love the silk ribbon with her crepe paper shirt.

Now, I must get back to the Market and do some real work....open again in just 6 days.

Undercover.

It's no secret that I spend my nights and weekends running the Market and the week days doing another job. I'm sure you've heard me say it before, but one job I do for money, the other for love.

Have you been watching this show? Undercover Boss. The president, or a member of the executive staff, spends a week undercover in the trenches of the company that he/she leads.

How many people go to a job each day hiding their passions in their back pocket?

It makes me wonder if we all ask ourselves, "How did I get here"? If I really care about X, why am I fighting for Y? We started on this path for a reason, but somewhere along the way the path sent us on this detour and we have no idea how to get back. We are now so far into the forest that turning back would be ridiculous. Going forward is the only way.

Undercover Boss isn't going to happen at every company, but what if we changed up the world a bit and redealt the career cards? What if those higher up someones would listen to every one of their employees? Think about the power of a company if all it's employess were motivated by something more than their paycheck? If all employees were in jobs that fueled their core? I think "clock-watching" would take on a new definition.

Three words-Sign me up.

Three more:" Corporate Sabbatical Fund." (CSF. Ever realize companies need to have an acronym for everything???)

Since this is not yet the standard for corporate America, then the responsibility lies within us to make the change. You could probably say I'm the typical Gen X'er-full of dreams to change the world with no idea how to do it.

This is my blog so I'll go about dreaming. Words can create action. I'll start small.

Artist Class...OMG!

If Teresa wasn't enough, I found another group of ladies who fill my heart....Artist Class.
This was last Wednesday's project.

Hello newest weakness..paper shoes.

Mine didn't turn out quite as sturdy as I would have liked so, I improvised.

And glued them on the top of pink bakery boxes. (Of course I have pink bakery boxes just lying around. Ridiculous.)

What a fabulous gift box! I can't wait to give Valentine presents in these. They were scattered around the shop this weekend, they are sooooo coming back home with me.

Oh, to the very, very sweet lady who visited me this weekend. The one who's daughter is a "cupcake queen", you know who you are. This is for you:
